Talking with Young Children about Racism and Current Events
To Our Preschool Families,
During this time of nationwide discord, many parents have reached out and asked for guidance in talking to their children about topics such as racism, the recent nationwide protests, embracing diversity and increasing understanding. Below are some resources that may be of assistance to you and your family. It is our hope that these developmentally appropriate resources can be a starting place for your family when discussing these important topics.

Welcome to PreK Remote Learning
Dear Families,
As we navigate through these uncertain times and continued school closure, we want to ensure that the students and their families have a variety of resources and activities that promote student engagement during their time at home. The resources and activities will clearly not replace the daily classroom instruction, and nothing can replace the work of teachers and students being together.
This Google classroom will provide daily remote learning activities for students to practice the skills that they have already learned in all academic areas and will offer our students the ability to engage in a variety of enrichment activities. Our Pre-K team has organized resources connected to social skills, creativity/exploration, music, movement, reading, math, and science for families to choose from. Each day our teachers and therapists will be adding new materials to the Google classroom. Please select activities of your choice and interest. We encourage you to create a schedule/routine with your child, but that at times we realize it may not be possible for your families to engage each day with the resources and activities provided. Our goal continues to be keeping students and families connected, supported, and engaged during this difficult time and to have some fun while learning.
Our Pre-K staff are here for you. If there is anything we can do to support your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher and/or administrators. We will of course, continue to check in with all of you as we move forward during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Kerri Connolly
